Notice is hereby given that the Butler County Board of Supervisors is requesting proposals for an Information Technology Specialist for Butler County. A job description may be obtained from the Butler County Clerk's office. Proposals will be accepted until April 27, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at the Butler County Clerk's Office, 451 5th Street, David City, NE 68632.

Proposals will be reviewed by the committee, and a recommendation will be presented to the Board of Supervisors for their consideration on May 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Butler County reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and to waive any technicality.


Job Title: Information Technology Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Collect information to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems and eliminate all unused equipment.
  2. Research, plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade operating systems.
  3. Manage, maintain and monitor reliability of the network.
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems, including user access and component configuration.
  5. Install, configure, and upgrade desktop hardware to include; network cards, printers, modems, mice and key boards.
  6. Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
  7. Be on call 24/7 /365 to resolve IT problems remotely or on site as needed.
  8. Administer and maintain firewall.
  9. Manage and monitor virus protection. Monitor security and respond to security incidents. Make recommendations for enhancing system security.
  10. Coordinate with Nebraska State Patrol on all security measures for the CJIS system and provide information for audit.
  11. Maintain and service video conferencing system.
  12. Act as a liaison between phone/internet/data provider and the county.
  13. Work with county building committee on budget, purchasing and best practices for IT software and hardware.
  14. Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
  15. Coordinate with County offices on IT needs.
